“Our live “Folkstage” performers were a new quartet formed from to longstanding duos– Annie & Rod Capps and Jim Bizer & Jan Krist have merged into Diamonds In the Rust. They perform both older material in new arrangements and brand new songs written for the quartet. They obviously love performing together and their diverse and skilled writing styles come to life with their upbeat and convincing performance. One member of the audience turned to me mid-set and said she couldn’t thank me enough for presenting them.”

Who are Diamonds in the Rust?

It was inevitable, perhaps – creative musical friends find other creative musical friends and can’t resist creating music together. Out of the heart of the Midwest, two veteran Michigan duos join forces in a new quartet/quintet: Diamonds in the Rust.

In what began simply as an idea to tour together, Annie & Rod Capps and Jan Krist & Jim Bizer (along with percussionist/composer Alan Finkbeiner) have formed a new band. Each already well-known for their performing prowess, the new group promises to be that much more. Everyone sings, everyone plays multiple instruments, and the band boasts a trio of respected, award-winning songwriters. The repertoire also includes a few choice selections from the rich musical history of the place where they grew and learned their craft.

Perhaps best of all is the palpable joy and camaraderie that happens between good musicians who are also good friends. Diamonds in the Rust exists to share this with their audiences – the connection that happens when everyone is caught up in the music.
